| I went to the photos posted in the photos only thread, did some fairly straightforward crushing of the out of focus photo, and it says to me that the object has different attributes to the trees against the sky. There are differences in the grain at the edges, especially colour variation and luminance falloff compared to the foliage and trees set against the sky, most noticeable when you look at the individual RGB channels. |

My own opinion is someone needs to brush up on their compositing skills. Here's the red channel alone displayed as greyscale, which really shows the differences:
